Abstract

This recording is from Gerd Koch's Kiribati tape collection (1963–1964). According to Koch's documentation, KN 109 "Waaki mwane waaki" is a church hymn (anene n taro mauri), recorded in Tetua/Temwanoku, Nonouti, on 31 January 1964 at 9:00 a.m. and sung by Timeon from Tetua; Koch noted that no further details were known regarding the piece's age and origin. The recording, however, is composite; only the first part is the church hymn.
