Abstract
This recording is from Gerd Koch's Kiribati tape collection (1963–1964). According to Koch's documentation, KN 101 "Ngaia Abaiti, Abatoa" is a chant (tang) belonging to the creation myth, recorded in Temwanoku, Nonouti, on 29 January 1964 at 8:30 a.m. and performed by the elder Tonika. The composer and date of composition are unknown; Koch notes, however, that the piece is presumably very old.
