Collaborative Ethnographic and Ethnofictional Filmmaking

Controversies and conflicts in collaborative filmmaking.
The films presented here are based on two different approaches of collaborative filmmaking in the framework of film workshops. Firstly, the co-production of films in a high cinematic quality. Secondly, improvised and playful ethnofictional storytelling. While the concept of collaboration implies mutual and harmonious cooperation, opposing approaches and ideas are not unusual. Conflicting positions are not always discussed and resolved in a democratic and constructive process. Co-filmmakers may apply filmic means in order to implement their positions. Controversies and conflicts may enhance cooperation and contribute to more mutual relationships in collaborative filmmaking.
