BeeCultures
The anthropological research project BeeCultures investigates the diverse connections between humans and honeybees. The comparative research has been taking place in Hamburg, Ngaoundéré (Cameroon) and Kyoto (Japan) since 2014. The focus is on the physical and sensual practices of beekeepers, scientists, artists and other humans dealing with bees. The specific characteristics and behaviors of the different bee species and subspecies they interact with are an important aspect of the research.
In addition to ethnographic methods such as participant observation and qualitative interviews, audio-visual methods are at the center of the investigation. All films and research videos produced during the research are hosted here.
