I have earlier investigated how the increased access to digital scholarly information influences scholarly communication practices. To do this I especially studied how researchers are using blogs. In this presentation I will discuss a project, which is work in progress, on how researchers create several representations of themselves online. Different social network sites have emerged during the last years, and at the same time researchers use social media of different sorts like Twitter and blogs. How does a researcher use different tools or ways to communicate and create an image of herself as a researcher on the web? And what trust practices come into sight when researchers use different kind of online environments to shape their online identity?
The project is financed by the Swedish Research Council and part of a larger project called Knowledge in a Digital World: Trust, Credibility and Relevance on the Web.
